Debra Marquart’s new book of poems ‘Small Buried Things’ protests the ills of the oil and gas industry with unflinching heart

“Because there are so many changes happening, it’s important for artists to be in the state and working on observing and trying to tell the story of the change that’s occurring,” Marquart said. “It’s our job to envision and imagine and reimagine things,” Marquart said. “I think artists not only observe what’s going on right now, but they can create pathways to futures that people haven’t imagined yet. I think that’s the value artists have in a society.”
