i was talking to a friend of mine said he don’t want no wars no more they’re building bombs while our schools are falling tell me what in the hell we’re paying taxes for how can we talk about the price of gas when they’re stealing our brothers’ and sisters’ right to live
such a righteous & rocking song. people & the environment are suffering in our own land, why is our government spending billions of dollars on implements of destruction.
many of us are enslaved by a tax system where our labor goes to support harmful practices & murderous policies. like in maine, where our tax dollars are being spent on poisoning the air, water, people and animals.
“If a thousand [women] and men were not to pay their tax-bills this year, that would not be a violent and bloody measure, as it would be to pay them, and enable the State to commit violence and shed innocent blood. This is, in fact, the definition of a peaceable revolution, if any such is possible.” -thoreau from civil disobedience
how powerful it would be if more workers became tax resisters – sending a message to our government that we’re going to “stop paying for corruption and injustice.” we could instead choose to donate to charities and make positive contributions to our communities.
